The Nuts: Ranking de Abril

Erik Seidel (5) 1 (2) Seidel finished second at the WPT’s Hollywood Poker Open for $155,103. Unseating Phil Ivey from the No. 1 spot isn’t something I saw coming anytime soon but obviously Seidel’s recent amazing run, coupled with a pre-2011 poker career that any player would kill for, has put BLUFF’s April cover subject over the top.(Bradley)
Phil Ivey (5) 2 (1) $149,784 in profit online over the last 30 days. It’s shocking to see Ivey out of the top spot. What else is there to say? Oh yeah, the WSOP is around the corner and Ivey will have plenty of incentive to add another bracelet to his wrist. (Feldman)
Jason Mercier 3 (3) Back-to-back champion of the NAPT Mohegan High Roller Bounty Shootout ($246,600) Ho hum, just another big win in front of the cameras. If he puts together a good WSOP, he’ll make it to No. 1 here. (Wise)
Vanessa Selbst 4 (6) Went back-to-back at NAPT Mohegan Sun to earn $450,000 . Going back-to-back is pretty absurd especially while Selbst is still focusing on finishing Yale law school and has exams coming up. With nearly $4.3 million in lifetime earnings she seems destined to pass Kathy Liebert for the top female money winner of all time in the very near future. (Bradley)
Daniel Negreanu 5 (5) Daniel is back to live action. This may explain how he’s doing. Not being able to work on four-tabling online might not be what Negreanu had in mind, but he’s been a regular at the game in Ivey’s Room at Aria since Black Friday, and is back in his element playing live again. (Chaivarlis)
Tom Dwan 6 (4) Dwan dropped over half a million online and is probably thankful that he can’t play right now being stuck $2.4 million on the year. Dwan is definitely hurt by the departure of FTP from U.S. soil, depriving him his favorite venue. His live cash play is obviously elite, but his tournament results leave something to be desired. (Wise)
Eugene Katchalov 7 (NR) Second to Jason Mercier at the NAPT Mohegan High Roller Bounty Shootout for $68,000 Last month, he bubbled the list. Well, it’s time he’s on it. His second place finish to Mercier in the NAPT Mohegan puts his 2011 tournament winnings at $1,757,920 and if that isn’t impressive, I don’t know what is. (Chaivarlis)
Tom Marchese 8 (7) Fourth at the WPT Hollywood Poker Open for $77,551. Without online poker available in the States, expect to see him traveling the live tournament circuit even more now. Especially look out for him at the WSOP where he made a final table last year for $123,264. (Peters)
Vivek Rajkumar 9 (9) He made back-to-back WPT final tables a month ago. He’s allowed a quiet month. Rajkumar has only one more chance to shine if he wants to win the WPT’s Player of the Year award. He’s been a dominating player on the tournament circuit for years and has hit his stride right before the 2011 WSOP. (Feldman)
Daniel Cates 10 (10) Cates was up $1.9 million online this year when Black Friday hit. His stock on this list has to be hurt by Black Friday. Maybe more than everyone else. (Wise)
